Foo Fighters Concert

So I have been going to concerts since I was 17 years old and last night was probably the best one I’ve been to. The Foo Fighters played at citi field in flushing, ny. My boyfriend and I had waited online back in November for general admission tickets and standing on that light was the best decision because of where we got a spot on the floor.

How to Make Berry Jam

When berry season arrives, I rush to fill the preserving pot with all the varieties I can carry home. Berry jam is versatile and practical (one step to thumbprint cookies! rugelach! jam tarts!)—and downright delicious.

Raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, mulberries, olallieberries, marionberries, huckleberries, currants, and gooseberries all mature in the heat of summer, so when making preserves, choose one variety or combine a variety willy-nilly for what the French call Old Bachelor’s Jam. (What old bachelors have to do with delicious jam is beyond me, but the name suggests jam made from bits and bobs in berry boxes that were stashed in an old bachelor’s refrigerator, and I’m just fine with that.)

Here’s how to make any sort of berry jam, willy-nilly:

Fresh Strawberry crepes

so I tried one of the recipes in the Weight Watchers weekly.

  • 5 large egg whites
  • 1/8 tsp table salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1.5 tbsp unsalted melted butter
  • 1 c fat free milk 1 c all purpose flour
  • 8 sprays cooking spray
  • 1 lb strawberries, hulled and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 c powdered sugar

In a medium bowl, whisk together egg whites, salt, vanilla extract, butter, milk, and flour until throughly combined.

Coat a 8-9 in skillet with cooking spray; set over medium heat. When pan is hot add a 1/4 cup of batter and tilt skillet so the bottom is covered. Cook for two minutes; flip over. Top with about 1/3 cup of strawberries and cook for two more minutes. Fold crepe in half and slide on plate and lightly cover with sugar.

Repeat until all the batter is done. One crepe is one serving.
